Today's article is a special one! Ever wondered WHY I was specifically looking for 20 Women to promote in my WiCyS Discord server channel? Well of course it was for pure hearted reasons, BUT, it was for this SPECIAL occasion! YES... MY WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH ARTICLE HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

This article contains the BEST women to follow in Cyber, specifically those whose content is TECHNICAL and PRACTICAL! If you're a woman looking to break into Cyber, not only will you have access to some of the best women to follow and hear insights from, BUT, you'll be able to WATCH and observe their research, seeing them ACTUALLY do the thing!

I know I'm a bit nit picky about this, but I like to stay up to date with content creators that can SHOW me a thing or two!

Youโ€™ll also notice from this list, thereโ€™s a lot of โ€œsynergyโ€, allowing you to group some of these content creators side by side to master a particular area in Cyber youโ€™re interested in.

Before I move on, I recommend, if you haven't already, check out my article here on WHY women belong in Cyber Security and the major role they play in tech and it's rich history!

For those that are wondering WHY "Kiki's Delivery" service is the main thumbnail photo for this article.... EVEN THAT.... IS SYMBOLIC! You can find out more about WHY here!

Stacey Lokey-Day ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Specializing in Threat Hunting, sheโ€™s an SOC operations analyst at the one, the only, Wiz, a company specializing in cloud based security, threat hunting, and overall Security research, most of which is publicly available on their white paper resource page.

If youโ€™re looking to stay up to date with some of their latest research, sheโ€™s the best person to go to for that! She plucks the most interesting stuff and talks about it in her videos.

Another thing to note about her content is itโ€™s rather unique, both in terms of the theme and the overall vibe you get from it. Think of it like a pink/purple chill Ghibli vibe if any that makes sense.

She also hands down has some of the best written documentation Iโ€™ve ever seen since she spices it up a bit using canva in order to design fun themes for them, enticing you, making you WANT to read it vs a simple document with no character to it.

You can find out what I mean here. You canโ€™t sit there and tell me thatโ€™s not QUALITY content!

You can find out more about her via her Linktree here!

Fun fact, a lot of my content ideas have actually stemmed from her LinkedIn content, such as one of my past articles focusing on the Confluence ransomware data breach as well as Claude AI which I talked about a while back.

Bailey Marshall ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Also known as the โ€œSecurity Rexโ€, she specializes in Offensive Security and Penetration Testing. Thatโ€™s also the name of her brand/company by the way!

Her contentโ€™s also unique and engaging, where she also designs courses FREE in order to make learning accessible for those looking to break into Cyber Security.

Sheโ€™s also the co-founder of another brand which Iโ€™ll talk about a bit for the next upcoming person Iโ€™m going to mention.

You can find out more about her here !

Jennifer Funk ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Specializing in CTI, Cyber Threat Intelligence, as well as Blue Team Operations, she uses threat intelligence in order to better secure our digital landscape!

If you donโ€™t know what threat intelligence is, as the name suggests, itโ€™s the essential gathering of information, in this case, for various Cyber Security threats that could pose risk for various infrastructures.

Using this information, Jennifer is able to run security assessments and test for some of the most critical ones or latest ones against any business model she secures, checking if it exists, mitigating it should it exist!

Sheโ€™s also known as โ€œAlt-Funktionโ€, and runs her own YouTube channel and content that breaks down a lot of CTI and other Cyber Security subject matter in a meaningful and engaging way, easy for folks to understand. She even has her own blog which you can find here!

She also has a unique theme and vibe as well. In case you havenโ€™t realized this yet, folks that have uniqueness and character stand out to me. She also respects the color purple like most of the women on this list so thatโ€™s brownie points for me as well!

Sheโ€™s also the co-founder of โ€œFuture Proof Securityโ€, a company run by her and Bailey Marshel. It focuses on online Child safety and awareness practices. You can find out more about it here!

Much like Bailey Marshall, she too has her own FREE course you can find here!

Angelina Tsuboi ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Specializing in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Robotics, she applies all her skill sets within the realm of aerospace in order to apply best Cyber Security practices.

Iโ€™m not sure if she considers herself this, but sheโ€™s basically one of those โ€œgeniusesโ€ whose talent deserves a little more love and shine! Sheโ€™s only 18, and has made a lot of major accomplishments within her technical career prior to that age, most of which some folks never achieve until their late 20โ€™s.

Her potential is fascinating, to the point even I can say I could learn a lot from her. Sheโ€™s smart and ingenious. Her ideas are refreshing! Check her out!

You can find out more about her here!

Her GitHub can be found here!

Her Website can be found here!

Lina Lau ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Specializing in Threat intelligence and incident response, she breaks down various forms of Cyber Threats and hacking methodologies, even going as far as to simulate real world ones that occur from places like: China, Korea, and various parts of the world, allowing us to gain insights on how threat actors around the world go about breaching system infrastructures.

Sheโ€™s also the co-founder of a company known as โ€œXintraโ€, a training simulator platform unlike any other. Rather than basic boring simulations that arenโ€™t applicable on a real world level, she kicks it up a notch, basing them around the various Cyber threats around the world she covers in her research. Yes, YOU, get to TRY what they did in a simulated environment in order to learn stuff you wouldnโ€™t find in any FREE resources, even most paid ones today.

Even the NSA has taken a liking to her research. Donโ€™t believe me? Find out more about that here!

Her brand company page can be found here!

Her blog research page can be found here!

Rana Khalil ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

She is SERIOUSLY one of the best web application pentesters PERIOD. She even runs her own academy, consisting of PRACTICAL training that even rivals BurpSweep who is the pinnacle of web application penetration testing training.

I respect her a lot and still have so much to learn from her. A lot of her content got me through some CTFโ€™s I was working on when I was a beginner, including the first one I participated in where I was having a hard time wrapping my head around injection techniques like SQL injection for example!

I personally learned from her:

๐ŸŽƒ SQL injection (Union and Blind)

๐ŸŽƒ How to write scripts tailored to SQL injection

๐ŸŽƒ Command injection

๐ŸŽƒ How to use and master burp suite (THIS IS ANOTHER REASON TO CHECK HER STUFF OUT)

All for FREE. She has enough content for you to check out if you want to try some of her stuff, her academy being your next stop should you wish to master the art of web penetration testing further. This can come in handy for practical bug bounty hunting, and stuff like HTB and TCM certs should you be going for them!

Check her out! YouTube Channel can be found here!

Nina Maelainine & Mrs. OSINT ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Seeing as these two specialize and sort of do the same thing, I figured to talk about BOTH of them in one go for this section.

Their bread and butter is OSINT, Open Source Intelligence gathering! Think of OSINT as the parent of various forms of threat hunting and intelligence research, focusing on various ways to retrieve intelligence about anything youโ€™re looking for online, including the usage of tools to do so.

๐ŸŽƒ Nina runs a blog here on her medium, centered around her โ€œlate nightโ€, findings series, where she uncovers a lot of what goes on in the digital world: deep web, platforms like Telegram, all sorts of stuff! If youโ€™re looking to truly journey into the world of the web and see what goes on, check out her stuff!

๐ŸŽƒ Mrs. OSINT , personally, is where you should start if youโ€™re NEW to OSINT, as she centers a lot of her content for beginners, teaching you tools and techniques you can use in order to dive into the world of OSINT. I recommend diving into her stuff first, pivoting into Ninaโ€™s content as that caters more to folks that already know a thing or two about OSINT!

You can find out more about Nina here!

You can find out more about Mrs. OSINT here!

Lena Yu ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

If you're MEGA interested in learning more about malware analysis and how to write it for sandbox scenarios then I highly suggest checking out Lena Yu! Her stuff is really insightful and broken down TO THE TEE in full detail! Not gonna lie, as I was browsing her research one of the hardest things I HAD to do was NOT lose track of time reading some of her work as I was scoping her out! Really awesome stuff!

You can check out her website here to see more of her research!

Carolina Christofoletti ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

She's a CSAM Threat hunt intelligence researcher that basically helps clean up the streets one pedo at a time and looks into a lot of insightful cases on the matter.

A lot of her research is truly insightful.

She doesnโ€™t run a website or YouTube channel, but you can find out all about her on her Linkedin page here!

Anastasia Edwards ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Anastasia, whom I've recently connected with, shares a lot of solid insights on the overall Cyber Security landscape. BUT, one thing in particular that stood out is she tackles a lot of topics on the human element when it comes to risk in Cyber Security, something that gets overlooked a lot of the time.

She also runs her own blog as well! You can find more information about that here!

Lexie (Alex) Thach ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Specializing in Electrical Engineering/Robotics and various ways to integrate it with Cyber Security. She also does some cool stuff regarding drone security and a lot more.

Tbh, you guys know how I'm the multi-tool of skill sets: Electrical Engineering/Robotics, IT, Networking, Software Engineering, etc etc, I think you know where I'm going with this haha. She's basically ME... BUT.... ON FU*KING steroids. If ONLY you could meet her in person haha. She's one of a kind and her caliber is out of this world! She's more versed than me and there's a lot both I and YOU can learn from her. Sheโ€™s the DEFINITION of WHY women belong in tech PERIOD!

If youโ€™re starting out in Cyber and arenโ€™t too sure of where to go: certs, homelab setups, interviewing tips, etc, she basically covers all of that on a PRACTICAL level for you.

During my earlier days in Cyber when I was still trying to figure myself out, her channel and insights helped me figure out what I truly wanted to focus on, preventing me from going down this โ€œall brain no aimโ€ path, allowing me to focus on areas I was truly passionate about as her channel explained it to me!

Check out her YouTube channel here!

Katie Paxton-Fear ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Kattie Paxton is another โ€œhiddenโ€ gem of the Cyber Security community. Sheโ€™s an amazing Security researcher that covers a wide range of topics, her specialities being bug bounty hunting for Web Application Security and API security.

She has a ton of research to her name, ALL PRACTICAL, where youโ€™ll learn a lot of cool stuff, FREE! She even does her own talks and training workshops you can participate in if you want!

Sheโ€™s the co-founder of โ€œPulsediveโ€, a Computer and Network Security platform whose goal is to provide Threat Intelligence data to business infrastructures at a more affordable and reasonable price.

Threat intelligence is CRUCIAL for defending our digital landscape.

Companies use threat intelligence in order to stay up to date on the most ethical security measures that need to be instated in order to defend their systems.

Not only do Threat Intelligence platforms like Pulsdrive provide you information about various threats, but you get further breakdowns of their methodologies and mitigation insights, which is crucial in order to mitigate your systems should you have the same risks.

Ell Marquez ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Specializing in DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response) and Cloud Security, sheโ€™s featured in a lot of talks: podcasts, webinars, conferences, and gives her overall insights on said subject matters.

Focusing on Offensive Security and Penetration Testing, she also has FREE training material and coursework to her name, covering topics like: Bruteforcing, password spraying, and even virtualization so you can harness the power of โ€œSandboxingโ€, which is where you essentially create a virtual space thatโ€™s typically used to deploy malware for analysis.

Kazel Lau ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿ•ธ

Sheโ€™s a Security Researcher/Ethical hacker that runs her own hackerspace community on Telegram. The name of her community/brand is called "HackerTale"

If you LOVE what my Discord server has been doing lately, then youโ€™ll LOVE what she does! Itโ€™s that but on STEROIDS, and although the community is heavily Chinese focused at the moment (Sheโ€™s working on the English community and a lot more), the resources she has are PHENOMENAL and I canโ€™t bear to look away! Most Discord servers or Telegram groups I usually mute them the moment I get in it because itโ€™s just nonsense, but not in this case! Even her social updates are just PRACTICAL and I WANT to see them! It actually hahaโ€ฆ made me re-download Telegram haha, Yeah, it was that good haha.

The kicker? All the information is FREE, so you have no excuses as to why you canโ€™t pick up ethical hacking and learn now!

Another kicker?! Youโ€™ll get to interact with the Chinese community and learn a thing or two. Iโ€™ve said this before, and Iโ€™ll say it again, the Chinese are LEGIT some of the best hackers and engineers in the world PERIOD! Iโ€™ve been dying to find a community to join, more so as someone that is currently studying Mandarin and all that.

Check her out folks!
